Our environmental and waste consultants can prepare your Materials Management Plan (MMP) or provide a Qualified Person to review it and issue the necessary Declaration, enabling soils to be safely re-used.
Experienced soil management consultant services:
- Materials Management Plans (MMP) and Qualified Person (QP) declarations: Soils from construction sites are considered waste unless proven otherwise. To reuse materials legally, especially when transferring soils between sites, a compliant MMP is required, along with a QP declaration under DoWCoP. We can prepare your MMP and act as your Qualified Person to make the necessary declaration. (https://www.claire.co.uk/projects-and-initiatives/dow-cop).
- Soil resource assessments. We assess soil quality and function to support planning, sustainability, and land stewardship goals. Our surveys evaluate carbon storage, drainage, biodiversity, and more, with tailored recommendations to protect and enhance soil resources.
- Waste recovery plans: Where reuse involves non-natural or treated soils, a Waste Recovery Plan may be required to justify the activity. We can help develop your plan and demonstrate compliance with the waste recovery test for permit applications under the Deposit for Recovery scheme: (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/deposit-for-recovery-operators-environmental-permits/waste-recovery-plans-and-deposit-for-recovery-permits#waste-recovery-test).
- Environmental permitting and exemptions: Where re-use involves non-natural or treated soils, a Waste Recovery Plan may be required to justify the activity. We can help develop your plan and demonstrate compliance with the waste recovery test for permit applications under the Deposit for Recovery scheme.
